If you are one of those who do not prefer waiting in the long pre production order lists for your pickup to arrive, then Mopar’s latest JK-8 Independence Jeep Wrangler might just be the pickup truck for you. The parts division at Chrysler is currently previewing the JK-8 Independence at their annual Jeep Safari in Easter at Moab in Utah.

The kit provided by Mopar will help to turn the current JK Unlimited model from Jeep Wrangler into hauler that can easily crawl on rocks. The JK-8 Independence truck is similar in style to the positively received project truck, Jeep J8 Sarge, as well as the conversion kit for the Brute pickup by the America expedition vehicle for TJ Wrangler. However, unlike the Brute pickup truck, this truck has a separate cab and box.

The cargo box of the JK-8 has been integrated well with the greenhouse of the vehicle. The bed of this pickup truck measures 50 inches in length, while it is wide by 44 inches between the wheels of the truck. Mopar has also created inserts for the body panel which will mask the rear doors of the Wrangler Unlimited. All of the interior parts of the truck after those of the front seats are removed, resulting in a single cab which has a lot of bonus space, for storing in small gear securely. Apart from this, the pickup box is also functional.

The drivetrain of this truck is fitted with a Dynatrac/ Mopar 44 ProRock front axle and a rear axle by Dana 44, both having 4.88 gears. A 4.5 in long kit of arm suspension links the frame with the axles. For off road maneuvering, JK-8 makes use of BFGoodrich KM2 37 in tires for mud terrain. This show truck features a bright yellow color exterior with both the rear and the front having off road bumpers by Mopar itself, along with new slush mats and a fuel door.

This kit also features outer and inner body panels, bed floor, a half hard top which work well with panels from Freedom Top as well as the new bulkhead. Mopar is yet to announce the price for this truck conversion kit. There are to be two versions of this kit. One is a bolt-on kit which does not require any welding, while the other is a full kit which will be sold by Mopar dealers.

Toyota was the first foreign auto company to capture a stronghold in the American automobile market. Toyota trucks played a major role in bringing this company a sizeable market share. With the Tacoma and tundra pick up trucks, Toyota managed to get a nice slice of the automobile action.

While the Toyota 4 Runner was originally an SUV model, this vehicle was designed more like a pickup truck body; the only difference being that in the 4 Runner, the bed was enclosed in a glass top cover. By the year 1986, this SUV model underwent a lot of changes in design. The front suspension was changed to an independent one from a solid axle suspension. Their track widths were also increased to 3 inches.

This made the Toyota 4 Runner more comfortable when on road as well as improved the handling and stability. This change is feature, however reduced their off road capability. Its grille was changed to a two segment grille from a three segment one. From the year 1984 to 1986, most of the Toyota 4 Runner models which were imported to the US market did not have any rear seats.

As they featured just two seats, these vehicles could easily be classified as Toyota trucks, than a SUV. The 1986 model was powered by a 22R-E turbocharged diesel engine. these engines were paired with automatic transmissions, while you could also opt for the manual five speed transmission.

The Toyota Tacoma is one of Toyota’s popular pickup trucks. This truck is available in four different body styles which include the Access Cab, the Regular Cab, the X-Runner and the Double Cab. This is a compact truck perfect for off road operations. The regular cab offers the Star Safety system. All the Tacoma’s are built so that they meet various off road requirements.

The regular cab of the Toyota Tacoma features air conditioning, with driver adjustable seats, a shift lever and steering wheel which is wrapped in leather as well as full carpeting, all providing the operator with a comfortable riding experience. The Toyota Tacoma also has keyless entry and power door locks and windows, giving your truck added protection from thefts.

Toyota trucks are the perfect option for those looking for quality and efficient compact pickup trucks. These trucks are built to meet the various interests and requirements of truck consumers, and offer many option packages and features.

Cadillac is currently expanding its lineup of vehicles, adding its first ever HD pickup trucks, which just goes to show, that even a truck can be luxurious. This truck named the DRW Platinum, will debut some time this month at the soon to be held 2011 auto show in New York.

The spokewoman for Cadillac, April Fursten, said that they had heard about the success of the 2011 HD GMC Sierra Denali, but also heard that their buyers wanted more luxury. The CEO for GM, Dan Akerson, said that if what their buyers wanted was luxury, then they would have to come up with a Cadillac model of HD trucks.

This DRW Platinum truck will share the same platform of one ton as the GMC Sierra 3500 and Chevrolet’s 3500 Silverado pickups, sporting some key differences, which would make them worthy of displaying the wreath and crest Cadillac emblem. This truck will be available only in the crew cab dual rear wheel configuration, powered by a V8 Duramax 6.6 liter engine.

However the Duramax engine will have a power boost that is exclusive for the Cadillac. This engine will deliver 410 horsepower and a torque of 810 pounds feet, which makes it a powerful oil burner that is available in heavy duty pickup trucks. This engine will be mated with a new 1000-8 Allison eight speed transmission.

Fursten also said that, they are going where no other truck manufacturer has gone before. While the hauling and towing details will be given later, however the numbers to be expected are massive. To differentiate DRW Platinum from Sierra and Silverado, the DRW has been given unique side doors, front end, rear taillights and wheels that are Cadillac specific. Meanwhile, the interior of the truck boasts leather skinned seats of free range organically fed Texas cattle, as well as a touch screen control panel which is similar to the one seen in Chevy Volt.

The screen interface is so good, according to the company that they will work even when the truck operator wears thick gloves. Another innovation which is the first in this industry is the automatic push button tail gate. The dash will also contain a docking port for the iPad, as a standard option in partnership with Apple Computers, with the iPad featuring an exclusive towing application for Cadillac.

Peterbilt trucks founded in the year 1939, gained prominence as the seller of Class 5 to Class 8 trucks in the heavy and medium duty categories. The company began with the aim of making more functional and efficient trucks for work applications by founder T.A. Peterman, which can still be seen in their products today.

The Peterbilt 265 was a semi trailer to be used for transporting heavy goods and materials. This truck was built on Peterbilt’s own chassis and cab. While the truck was orange in color, the top part of the truck cab was given a white paint job. This truck had a six speed transmission. Another engine options was the Caterpillar diesel engine with a transmission of over 15 speeds, which gave this truck 425 horsepower.

The Peterbilt 350 truck made use of aluminum composed wheels, and had tandem rear axles for better payload capacity. For added safety, this truck was supplied with Jake brakes. The Peterbilt 350 was also available with frame rails to better secure the cargo that you need to ferry.

For those looking for a used pick up truck, the Toyota trucks, especially those belonging to the model year 2008 are their best bet. J.D. Power & Associates recently ranked them the highest in their study regarding vehicle dependability. The study which carried out over a whole year measured the different problems which were experienced by the original owners of these trucks which were at least three years old.

This study took into account around 202 different problems which were faced by the owners of pick up trucks over the last 12 months. These problem systems were as far apart from each other and included those like powertrain problems and the dependability of accessory and feature or interior or body of the trucks among others.

The overall dependability of these trucks was determined by their total number of problems which were experienced in 100 vehicles of the same brands (PP100). Those which reflected a low score on this scale showed a higher or better quality. in the year 2011, the total averages of vehicle dependability were 151 PP100, which was the lowest rate of problems faced between used vehicles since the start of this study in the year 1990.

The total vehicle dependability average was an improvement from the 170 PP 100 of the year 2009. In the category of mid sized pick up trucks, the 2008 model of the Toyota Tacoma pick up truck, received the top most rank in being the most dependable, and was followed by the Honda Ridgeline pick up truck. No other brands or models of compact pick up trucks were able to perform more than the average in this segment.

The 2008 model of the Toyota Tundra, was also ranked as being the most dependable in the category of large pick up trucks, while the Ram 1500 of Dodge and the F-150 pick truck by Ford, were given an honorable mention. According to the study however, while the dependability of vehicles continued to improve, the new features and technologies were posing a challenge for the manufacturers of automobiles.

The study also said that the overall dependability of vehicles had improved their ratings compared to the models of the year 2010, with the manufacturers of many automobiles trying to reduce the problems faced in many traditional areas, but were still experiencing challenges with problems faced because of newer features and technology.

Hummer owned by AM General produced trucks and SUV’s. Their models were based on the military Humvee models and began marketing their civilian models by the year 1998 under General Motors. Seeing the popularity of their SUV models, Hummer also introduced pick up truck versions of their popular Hummer H2 and H3 models. With their large body and strength, producing Hummer trucks seemed an obvious decision for the brand.

From the year 2008, however, GM started reviewing Hummers business viability. This was a result of slow sales, as the prices of gas kept rising, and people didn’t want to purchase a huge fuel consuming vehicle. This was a year before the recession hit the American economy, and after that the fate of the Hummer brand was written. By the year 2010, GM has announced that the Hummer brand, which included their Hummer trucks would be discontinued, and by May, 2010, the last model to be produced by the brand, Hummer H3 was produced.

The Hummer H2 SUT or Sport Utility Truck was a crossover between an SUV and a pick up truck model. This SUT was conceived in a bid to enter the profitable segment of pick up trucks. This truck featured a luxurious interior, bold looks as well as an off road performance that was unparralled. Some of the standard features of this truck included a 72 inch durable pick up bed. The mid gate of these Hummer trucks could also be folded down.

The Hummer H2 truck was powered by a 6.2 liter Vortec V8 SFI enfine which used the E85 Ethanol FlexFuel. It had cast aluminum cylinder heads and block. This truck had a six speed 6L80 Hydra-Matic automatic transmission. The engine was capable of a 393 horsepower and 415 pounds feet of torque.

The Hummer H3 was another model which was offered as a pick up truck model. This truck was available in a number of different configurations imaginable. It also had new accessories required for different outdoor activities and also had rear and front locking differentials. This truck was powered by a 3.7 liter Vortec engine which had cast aluminum cylinder heads and block. It was also available with a V8 5.3 liter engine option.

The Hummer H3 truck was available with a package for off road suspension. This package included electronic fully locking rear and front differentials as well as a 4.03:1 transfer case of two speed. This truck also had a frame constructed of full welded steel.

The North American division of Volvo trucks has just manufactured an exclusive new truck for use in the business of automobile transport. According to officials, the Volvo Autohauler has been developed so as to maximize the freight capacity while at the same time bringing safety, efficiency and comfort to the market of automotive transports.

The VAH or Volvo Autohauler is a day cab model which has a lower chassis when compared to that of standard models, a short BBC dimension as well as an engine that meets the standards of the EPA 2010. According to Volvo’s Senior VP of Sales, Ron Huibers, this new truck is designed in such a way that is will increase the maximum space for loading and at the same time incorporates the latest technology available in engines.

Because of the lower chassis, the height of the overall truck is also reduced which allows for a minivan, car or pick up to fit on top of the cab, so that it can maximize efficiency of each delivery. The design also has a configuration of axle forward which provides better distribution of weight needed for ideal maneuverability. With a top of frame at the rear of the cab, this Volvo truck has been designed for easy hook up of the trailer and quick mounting on the body.

According to Volvo’s manager of product marketing, Wade Long, their goal has been to reduce the lead time as well as to increase the efficiency for transporters of automobiles. They have worked closely with builders of truck bodies and customers to understand as well as meet their various needs. Volvo is confident that its VAH has an engineering, design and performance required for the demanding market of vehicle transport.

Hansen & Adkins Auto Transport, Executive VP, Steve Hansen, said that, in their business, the cab of the truck should be small so that the space for loading is maximized. The frame height, cab height as well as dimensions of BBC are quite important. With the Volvo Autohauler, they will get a truck which gives them the required capacity. The interior of the cab is quite comfortable too, having more room then expected.

Hansen’s company operates nearly 325 trucks, and they were the first to order the first prototype, working closely with Volvo to refine the design as well as prepare it for production. He also recently ordered 40 more Volvo Autohaulers.

Benson trucks manufacturers trailer trucks as well as dump body trucks. They first began the production of their trucks for coal field haulers located in West Virginia, where the company was founded. By the year 1962, Benson trucks started production at their 78,000 sq. ft. plant. International Industries, later on acquired this company in the year 1985, and the company became known as Benson Manufacturing.

Benson 524 is a flat bed trailer from Benson. It measured 48 feet in length and 102 inches in width. The body of the trailer is of aluminum, while the flooring is also of aluminum. It featured a suspension by Intraax, and the tires used were 24.5LP. The axle type was a fixed spread.

The Benson 524 was also available as a drop deck aluminum trailer. It was designed, complementing the company’s platform trailers lineup. It had a steel transition which allowed for a more concentrated capacity of load of about 52,000 pounds in a span of 4 feet as well as 80,000 pounds distributed evenly for increasing its capacity of hauling.

A great feature of this trailer is that though it was light weight, it had a great payload capacity. Some of the other features of the Benson 524 trailer truck include LED which are either 9 on each side or 5 depending on type chosen, an electric rear axle dump, 12 winches which have roadside track, chain ties which can pulled up as well as an air liquid gauge.

Some of the other features included a driver side winch track which was standard, a rear deck which had a height of 40 feet and had tires of 255/ 70R22.5. It also had cutouts of reinforced wheel for a better tire clearance, as well as construction that was fully welded for longevity and strength.

The Benson Frameless Dump is another trailer model form Benson trucks. The company made use of their award winning Inner Wall Technology [IWT]. This trailer model measured 40 feet in length. You could get the Benson Frameless Dump separately without the truck body.

Some of the other features of the Benson Frameless Dump include a steel draft arm as well as aluminum flooring.
